Value Check, Isle Nine

By James Pynn

What determines value? What's our measure? They say during the Roman Empire that a gold coin could buy you a good quality toga, a pair of leather sandals, and a leather wrist band to boot. That same coin today can buy you roughly the same type of items. A nice suit, slacks, and pair of shoes -- maybe even a watch. Certain currencies like gold and silver hold up through time. That's because we as a society believe in it. We don't often consciously think about how much something is worth. We usually just go with it. But remember; money only works as long as we believe in it.

What if instead of pieces of paper with Benjamin Franklin's picture on it we used fingernails tied up in red bows. Absurd? Yes, but currencies in South American tribes have used more, shall we say, odorous "items" to exchange their goods. Say you enrolled in a Forex training course and really wanted to understand how currency exchanged worked. Well the first thing you might realize is that the fluctuation of currency strength is never fixed. And, it's never questioned. Why one country's currency slips as another one rises is never really questioned. In order for meaning to exists, we must first believe in it.

Look at the diamond trade. The belief in the idea, or myth rather, that diamonds are scarce allows De Beers to sell at such an exorbitant rate. Gold, silver, copper, sugar, all work on the same principle. The time, tools, and person power all play a big part in adding the idea of value to those minerals. Just because those minerals are in the ground don't give it value. Weeds grow in the ground and how often do you see Wall Street brokers biding on that natural wonder? Which leads me to my next question.

How much is time worth? It depends on the person. Age plays a role in this debate. When you are sixteen you are further away from death. Your pay is low. When you're sixty, on average, you get paid more because you are closer to death. Now we go back to the word scarcity. It's defined as "the problem of infinite human needs and wants, in the world of finite resources. Society has insufficient productive resources to fulfill those wants and needs." So being sixteen years old you have more time, and if by having more then that means the value of your time costs less then if you were sixty and had less time (because of the limited nature, or finite amount of time you have). Life becomes more layered and complex as it goes and other factors, such as education and talent, help determine ones value.

Say I did take that Forex course and learned how money is exchanged. Would it explain by which factors does a counties currency rise or fall? Take England. Why has the pound stayed as high above the dollar and Euro for so many years? Because the British government believes that it should be that high. Arrogant, I know. But if belief can adjust a currency and belief is not something that can be exchanged on any market then how is quantified? If we would just realize that having belief in ourselves raises our own value then I think that the market out there would have to adjust around us and not the other way around. - 23221

Do It Right With Your Penny Stock List

By Malcolm Torren

There are so many penny stock shares being made available in the stock market. They're cheap and usually don't cost more than a dollar. Sometimes stock brokers sell them even cheaper by cents. The downside of it is that there are relatively few shareholders who frequent this slot. This concern is mostly attributed to the higher risk it bears because of its lack of relevant and useful information. The penny stock list is like your information directory and manual that should help you choosing the better stock to bid.

Having adequate information is essential when investing in stocks. When you have this, you will have a better understanding of the nature of the shares as well as its price. With small caps, it's different. There is less information and sometimes none at all. Most often prices are not accurately stated. Hence there is that great risk of manipulation. If small cap company info and share price is not found in your penny stock list, then don't invest on that stock.

It's only logical for any investor to know much about where he's putting his money on. Then follow up questions come in like why you must invest, how you should cash in, and most importantly when. It's difficult to make decisions if your knowledge about a product is not complete. Here's why:

- The danger with lack of information may include falsified claims of persuasive track record in penny stock investments. These may occur in internet spamming, anomalous phone calls, and even professional looking websites. Your next best move is to read thoroughly. Sometimes you even have to read between the lines.

- Inadequate info can lead one to believe in media hype. Some penny stock scams would do this by the so called subliminal advertising. They channel their campaign for stock buying discretely by brief mention of the subject. It somewhat like plugging a new product without giving exact names and details. When this happens, and usually they are convincing enough, check the penny stock list if it's there. Of course, that's assuming you are using a reliable source of stock info.

- Inadequate information can lead you to believe fake success stories. Success depends on how much you are willing to work for it. The reason a company succeed is not because of penny shares alone. Maybe it helped so to some extent the myth is true. But mainly its success is attributed to its solid fundamentals and hard work. Don't fall into this trap. Again check your penny stock list.

Always check with your penny stock list if the small cap company is stable. That means you have to conduct your own research on its operations, fundamentals, and business history. Some of these companies are young and just starting up. The more it becomes difficult to check on its reliability.

Almost all of the small cap investments today are also pegged on high technology stocks. Examples of these are biotech companies, telecommunications, and the internet sectors. Some penny stock list available have these categories. Technology nowadays can be a pretty good investment especially if its mother corporation is reputable in the stock market. You may want to check on them as well. - 23221

How to Trade Stocks Online

By Bryan Dickson

Buying and Selling stocks online has become the new way of doing business. Ordinary everyday citizens such as you and me can now trade stocks like the pros without paying the ridiculous broker fees that are often associated with trading on the stock market. This doesn't mean there are no fees involved or that you won't be discouraged from capriciously trading stocks. What it does mean is that you will be able to trade stocks, as you may have never been able to do before because the costs involved in trading were so high that only the wealthiest among us could really afford to work the market to any real advantage.

You will find quite a few companies that are going to compete for your business when it comes to empowering you to trade stocks online. It is best to go with a business that offers training and advice in addition to the ability to trade. There are many big names in the brokerage business that are getting in touch with the technology today and offering full service brokers and financial advisors in addition to offering new online services that include Internet trading.

If you decide to go with some of the bigger names in the business you should understand that you will pay a little more than you would pay going with many of the lesser name firms and trading companies. The good news is that the bigger names have more to loose after working for decades to establish themselves and develop a good reputation among traders. This means that they are not going to be "fly by night" and are going to work to make sure you have the best possible service from them for your future in the stock market trade.

Many of these firms in addition to offering the ability to buy, sell, and trade online will also offer financial planning for retirement, future expenses, and advice on how to create a fixed income from your investments. They will offer many tips, hints, and advice free of charge on their website while also promoting the services they offer through discounts in hopes of gaining your business for some of the higher ticket transactions that really cover their bills.

Online investment services offer consumers the opportunity to invest with lower commissions and fees which means you bring more of the money home when all is said and done and spend far less on fees and expenses related with investing. By saving these fees you may be doing yourself a great service but keep in mind that the invaluable advice of a broker can often mean the differences between mild successes and wild successes. If you can manage the fees it is a great plan to at least consult with a broker or financial advisor or planner once or twice a year in order to get the most out of your investment money.

Online trading is wonderful but you will find that it lacks the personal service you can expect from a financial advisor or a stockbroker. Very little has such a profound impact on your financial future than the ability to receive and follow expert advice. While there is more to read on the Internet by way of advice on investing in the stock market there is also a lot of contradicting information just as there is a great deal of misinformation. This is something that, when possible, is best left to the experts at least until you are able to learn the ropes and have a few successful trades under your belt.

If you have the soul of gambler however, then it is your money you are playing with and your future you are investing. If you are not spending more than you are willing to lose then there is no harm in trying your hand at investing through online brokerage services. You never know but there may be a nice pay out eventually. - 23221

Truth About Forex Books

By Anthony McDonald

Forex books are common, but ones that have good information are few. The free books seem to always contradict them self and have repeat information that can be easily found in a search engine. If you are a new trader to forex, relying on a free book to get you to your success is a sure way to fail. They just do not offer the information a trader needs.

Checking out forex books it was clear that the free ones on the internet will not offer you any substantial information or results. For the most part the books had useless information that was merely obvious trading standards that anyone should know that is in forex. This to me seemed a bit sad that people rely on these for information.

Many forex books are out their that can be purchased for a certain price. I have had my share of purchased guides and it seems you get what you pay for. There is good information in the majority of them, but nothing that was phenomenal. On the other hand there were some purchased books that seemed to be just as useful as some of the free ones.

Similar in forex books was the fact that they avoid proper trading methods and management of trades. It almost seemed like there was no hope for any internet book offering forex trading wisdom. This was until I did some hard research on what the big traders use for their own success.

After all the forex books I went through, there just was no other that could even compare to this method I had discovered. This method is what the big traders have used to get their massive dominating trades, and I found out how. After incorporating this one method into my forex trading, in a matter of a week I doubled my trading profits! This method was one that any trader can benefit from, and I have never looked back! - 23221

Mutual funds that have a primary focus on energy is another way you can look at oil and gas investing. One type of a mutual fund is a drilling fund. This is broken down into two fields; exploratory and developmental drilling. Exploratory drilling is as the name suggests, exploring to find oil and gas. Developmental drilling uses wells that already exist. It monitors the development and production limits.

Gas investments can also include commodities. This includes things like royalty funds, leas acquisition funds, and even combination funds. There are many ways commodities are offered for investments in the oil and gas industry.
